Rising Bakers Across Texas: Abby Jane, Silo and Stone + Sour Duck

It's no secret we believe Texas has some of the finest folks in the South. But who can blame us when we have bakeries that feel like home paired with culinary quality?

The Lone Star state is mighty large, so we try to pinball across it as often as possible to enjoy every barbecue, bakery, farm and restaurant who are known best for loving their ingredients. This past month we got the chance to visit with a few of our favorite kitchens that carry our olive oil, who prioritize quality, fresh-milled flour and their communities.

Meet Abby Jane, in Dripping Springs.

While we love everything that comes out of this Dripping Springs gem, Abby Jane's desserts and pastries are what keep us coming back so often. Their holiday Egg Nog Pie lives rent free in our head, but while we wait for that to come back around, we obsess over their pastry case that offers a robust rotation of seasonal sweets and savory snacks.

Meet Silo and Stone, in Dallas.

We love when bakers offer a subscription. Never running out of fresh-milled sourdough bread? Yes please! Silo and Stone a variation of box sizes for weekly delivery in the Dallas area. This new, family bakery is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots for sourdough in the South.

Meet Sour Duck, in Austin.

Welcome to East Austin's mecca for baked goods. Nostalgic flavors take a modern twist with a stack of options that both offer goods for the gluten free and vegan crowds: something for everyone, with classic to quirky palates.
