DIY Blood Orange Olive Oil Infusion

Want to create that lovely blood orange olive oil we mentioned? Here’s a simple recipe to get you started. Note, you’ll need one medium bowl, one large bowl, and a cheesecloth.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 blood oranges (or substitute for your current season’s citrus, such as mandarin)
  2. 1 cup Limited Reserve Picual Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Peels: Carefully peel the citrus, avoiding as much bitter white pith as possible.
  2. Blend: Pulse the peels with the olive oil in a food processor until finely combined.
  3. Infuse: Let the mixture sit at room temperature for about an hour to allow the flavors to develop.
  4. Strain: Pour the oil through a fine mesh strainer to remove the solids, and store it in a clean glass bottle.

And that’s it! You now have a custom citrus-infused olive oil, perfect for adding a pop of flavor to everything from salads to roasted vegetables.

Food should be fun, and infusing your olive oils is a beautiful way to bring that playfulness into your cooking! As fall flavors inspire us, we hope you’ll tap into your inner chef and create infusions that excite your palate.
