The November-December 2015 issue of Cooks Illustrated magazine evaluated olive oils. Their number one recommendation was from the California Olive Ranch, primarily because olives grown and harvested in the USA tend to produce fresher and tastier olive oils than olives grown and shipped from the Mediterranean regions. The Texas Olive Ranch was not among the oils tested, but it, too, grows, harvests and presses olives in the USA.
As a Native Texan, I tend to think anything Texan is superior to what isn't. I've been using Texas Olive Ranch oils – most of the various offerings – for nearly two years now, and I have yet to be disappointed in the product. I've stopped looking for oil in grocery store now, and buy Texas Olive Ranch oils on line, keeping a good supply on hand at all times.
