Our Story Begins with Texas-Sized Ambition

When people think of the Lone Star State images such as the Alamo and Red River come to mind, certainly not olive oil. But thanks to our owner Jim Henry and his Texas-sized ambition, South Texas is now home to the production of some of America’s purest olive oil.

When Jim decided to plant 40,000 olive trees on his newly bought land in the ruggedly beautiful area of Carrizo Springs, Texas, many people close to him told him he was crazy. But Jim’s pioneering spirit could not be stopped.

Jim Brings World Renowned Olive Oil to Texas

As a kid, Jim split time between his hometown of Fort Worth as well as his family’s farm in Wisconsin. This hybrid upbringing instilled in him an undeniable entrepreneurial spirit as well as the knowledge and work ethic necessary to run a farm. That combined 20 years of farming and traveling the world (notably to the olive oil havens of Italy, Spain, and California) in search of the perfect olive trees and production methods made Him one of the world’s foremost olive oil experts.

Jim Strikes “Gold”

All of this combined experience and expertise earned Jim the nickname “The tree whisperer.” So it shouldn’t have come as any surprise in 2009 when Jim’s gorgeous Arbequina trees finally blossomed that the result was the purest extra virgin olive oil ever produced in the Texas. Texas Olive Ranch is now home to the largest crop of extra virgin olive oil in the Southern United States.

The Olive Oil Boom in Texas

We are thankful to Jim and his pioneering spirit. His extraordinary vision along with his unwillingness to cut corners has resulted in Texas becoming an olive oil hub like never before.

Texas Olive Ranch now produces 25,000 gallons a year and we are excited to be expanding our business to beautiful Victoria, Texas where we recently planted 50,000 olive trees and are planning on planting 200,000 more.

Jim Henry and his family not only believe in producing the highest quality of olive oil, they believe in doing it the right way. That means sticking to our roots and not forgetting the family traditions and values that got us to where we are today.

Texas Olive Ranch is a family owned business in every sense of the word. Whether it’s Jim’s son Josh, also known as “the wrangler”, running the olive press that results in the finest olive oil in Texas, or Jim out in the orchard caring for the trees with his own two hands. Everything the Henry family does has the end goal of serving you the highest quality olive oil possible. We don’t cut corners or take shortcuts. We believe our quality is what has grown our small family business to where it is today and is what keeps our loyal customers coming back.
